Congratulations to all my past Year 12 pupils on their wonderful GCSE History results. I am delighted to share the great news that the History Dept has achieved a 100% pass rate at A*-C.
3 As, 1 B and 2 Cs
Well done to all the pupils for their hard work – the revision sessions paid off!
Wishing the girls all the best of luck for their future career paths.
Year 8 pupils enjoyed a visit to Carrickfergus Castle on Thursday 21 June 2012 where they were able to take a step back i
n time and explore one of Northern Ireland’s most striking historical monuments. They also considered why it is important to preserve such historical sites for future generations.
This experience of living history enriched and consolidated the Year 8 pupils’ understanding of the Norman conquest as they were able to explore this magnificent Norman castle. Pupils had recently studied castles in class and had developed cross-curricular links in ICT and Art. They completed an enquiry and PowerPoint presentation in their ICT class which was ass
essed by Mrs Reid and Mrs Ferris and built paper maiche castles with Miss Johnston in Art. In spite of the dismal Irish weather they all had a fun time and thoroughly enjoyed their day out as you can see in our photos!
The warm sunny weather has finally arrived… but this means exam time! Click on the links below to access some tips that will help focus your exam revision. Remember don’t just read through your work – make sure that you test your understanding and knowledge too! Create spidergrams, mind maps and post-its of key information that you need to know. Get an adult or friend to test you and review what you have learnt on a daily basis. Make up mnemonics or songs to help you remember key points!
